The Director for Education and Children’s Services, Gayle Gorman, recently visited Riverbank to meet with some of our pupils involved in the Children’s Parliament Project. Mrs Gorman was very interested in the work going on at Riverbank. She met with some of our RRSA group and discussed with them the work which was going on at Riverbank about Children’s Rights. From this conversation, Ms Gorman asked if we could provide her with a display on Children’s Rights for her office at Marischal College.

After her visit she commented on how polite and well-behaved the children were and that she was really interested in our Children’s Parliament and RRSA work. Furthermore, she would have liked to have stayed for the whole day.

Since her visit, Miss Hampton, two of our Primary 7 pupils and I have visited Marischal College to see exactly what size of area we need to plan our display for. Ms Gorman and her PA, Miss McQuarrie, were splendid hosts and we were given a tour of the building and introduced to some of the Directors of ACC. We even met and had a chat with Angela Scott the CEO of Aberdeen City Council. Everyone was rather jealous that Ms Gorman was to have her office ‘made over’!

Our visit to Marischal College was ‘tweeted’ by Ms Gorman on her Twitter Account. Fame at last!

We are so proud to be asked to carry out this ‘wee’ job for Ms Gorman and we’ll keep you posted on how we get on!
