We’re in the News!

As you’re probably all aware, Mrs Ironside, Miss Arnott and Miss Rowley are heading off, on Sunday morning, as part of the Tillydrone Vision on their way to Uganda. The Tilly Vision group are to visit Kamuli, a township in Uganda.

Since last November, we, at Riverbank, along with other participants in the Tilly Vision team, have been raising funds to install a water pump for the people of Kumali. Through a number of enterprises in school, we raised £2000. A further £2000 was added by others in the Tilly Vision group and the money will be made good use of in Kamuli. The wall requires a bore whole to be drilled to release water from 10m-12m under the ground. The pump will be cemented in and if we can raise another £1500, then a solar-powered electric pump will take away some of the har pumping work from the people of Kamuli.

Following our sharing assembly on Friday, there was a press call and Mrs Ironside handed over a cheque for £4000 to Xanthe Maccamlie, the Chairperson of the Tilly Vision Project. The money will be taken to Uganda to help pay for the pump. One representative from each of the Riverbank classes was on hand to hand over the money. The press photo and article appeared in Saturday’s Press and Journal, and what a good photo it was.

A great photo and super article about our fundraising for Kamuli Scholl and township in Uganda.

While they are away, our teachers are going to present, to Kamuli School, a framed Riverbank polo shirt and school tie, as well as an engraved quaich. The ladies will also be teaching some of the Kamuli School classes.

We are all looking forward to learning of their adventures when they return!
