Beware the Iceberg! Again!

Just two articles ago, we read about one of the boys in Mr Nicoll’s class who had made a great model of the Titanic, with the help of his dad, out of a cereal packet, some cocktail sticks and a biro pen. Well, not to be outdone and after all, we couldn’t let the boys have all the limelight, I had a young lady visitor from the same class.

Another pupil from Mr Nicoll’s class displays a terrific Titanic model.

Our previous model maker came along to help open doors as I was brought another terrific Titanic model. Again, helped by a willing dad, this young lady had used papier mache and cardboard to make her model of a sinking Titanic. The model came, complete, with the dreaded iceberg and I could even see the propellor of the Titanic as it was sinking below the waves. The model was beautifully painted and will add to the many interesting items and pieces of research that the children in Primary 3 are putting together as they study the Titanic for their topic.

I think I stated, previously, that the Titanic has proved to be a great catalyst and motivation for the children in their learning and I even had a chap from P3A who came to show me some wonderful underwater photographs of the sunken Titanic. The photographs appeared in an issue of The National Geographic and they included photos of artefacts from the ship….boots, furniture and so on.

I await another visit and some more wonderful work from our P3s who have been ably supported by parents and carers as well as our teachers and PSAs.
