Day for Change 2017

As a Rights Respecting School, Riverbank looks forward, every year, to participating in fundraising for UNICEF’s Day for Change.

Our RRS Group and our Pupil Council met to decide what the children would like to do to raise funds for Day for Change. It was decided that, although officially, Day for Change is on Wednesday 24 May, it would be easier for Riverbank to carry out their fundraising on Friday 26 May. We hope that as many children as possible will come to school wearing something blue, which is UNICEF’s colour and hopefully they will make a donation of up to £1 for doing so. In addition, there will be stalls for the children to visit which will include, hopefully, face painting, a nail bar, raffle, bring and buy, guess how many sweets in a jar, a treasure hunt, a bake stall and loads more.

Between now and the 26th of May, we would appreciate collecting any odd pennies and loose change that you might have, weighing down and making holes in your pocket. These can be donated to our UNICEF collection tub. The staff will be joining in too.

We have set ourselves a target of £500. This money will be donated to UNICEF’s Day for Change and the theme for 2017 is ‘For every child in danger’ with a special focus on malnutrition. I have placed some information in a slide above on what our money can do to help children who are in danger because they are suffering from malnutrition.

Nearer the day, we will let you know how much the items on individual stalls will cost and the stalls will be run by some of the children from the RRS Group and the Pupil Council and other upper stages pupils. We hope that the children will enjoy Riverbank’s Day for Change!
