YLL……. No, it’s not a spelling mistake
Some pupils from Riverbank’s P4 and P6 classes caught up with Mrs Jolly, our previous Head Teacher, when they participated in a training course for YLL – Young Leaders of Learning.
YLL is a new Scottish Government / Education Scotland initiative which is about giving children the opportunity to see what ‘goes’ on in other schools. It allows the children to talk to one another and to share ideas. They find out from their peers about things like, Celebration of Achievement, the children can then come back to school with their findings and discuss what we are doing well and what the other school is doing well and if there are changes we can make to improve how we work at Riverbank.
Mrs Jolly was at the training representing Education Scotland and the trainer for the session was Morven from Sparqs.
The children were given several tasks to carry out including ‘building their vision of what made a Young Leader of Learning!’
Below is a slideshow of the pupils from the three schools presenting their Young Leader of Learning Model!
This was an excellent learning opportunity for the children involved and they met and worked with pupils from two other schools. One of the schools will be partnered with Riverbank and they will visit us, and we them and good practice which the children observe will be shared in school.
What an excellent way of involving the children in their education!
