We have been learning about friction. We learned that the shinier the ramp, the less friction it created and therefor, the faster the car went.
We had so much fun this morning showing our parents some cool experiments, as well as learning about the different things that use electricity. We got to make musical instruments using jars and water, and enjoyed exploring the different sounds they made when being hit with different types of beaters.
We celebrated world book day today by taking part in some reading activities. We made book marks, read in our reading tent and enjoyed some books at the school library. Can you work our which characters we are?
We are enjoying our weekly paired reading sessions with the P7s. We have been sharing our favourite books and discussing them with our P 7 buddies. Hopefully in a few weeks, we will plan and write our own stories to share with our friends.
Today we designed and made some Roman coins. These will dry over the weekend and then we can paint them.
We had a lot of fun using blocks to estimate and measure the weight of items. We felt like scientists having to solve a problem with our partner. Some of us were surprised at how heavy some items were. We had to be very patient to wait for the scales to balance!
We have been learning about measuring volume and writing instructions. Mrs Farquharson brought in some special ingredients that we could use in our potions. We had to create recipes first and then we got to measure them and make them. One of the recipes was for making your camouflage and another was for teleporting you!
We were learning how to dance the Gay Gordon’s in PE with Mrs MacGregor. It was so much fun!
Today we were practising our addition outside. One group were using hula hoops to add to 20. The other group were learning to do smile addition by partitioning numbers to 100. We are going to keep practising our addition over the next few weeks.
