As a Rights Respecting School, the whole school community is aware of the the Articles of the UNCRC. Article 24 states, among other important things, that every child has the right to a clean environment.<\/p>\n

We are all aware of the damage discarded plastic can do, especially plastic that ends up in the sea. SIr David Attenborough’s Blue Planet highlighted the serious damage that is being caused by plastic being dumped in our oceans.<\/p>\n

Some months ago some of Mrs Ng’s class asked us if we could collect plastic bottle tops. They were looking for a variety of different colours. ‘What’s this about?’ I asked. ‘It’s a secret!’ was the reply. So, as requested, we all saved bottle tops and passed them on to P7N. We then received a request for a specific colour as they were short of it. We wondered what on earth was going on. Soon, it became clear!<\/p>\n

Mrs Ng’s class has carried out some work on the issue of plastic pollution and their work has culminated in the most amazing mural\/mosaic made entirely from plastic bottle tops. That was ‘the secret’ as to why the pupils wanted to collect bottle tops!<\/p>\n

If you happen to be in school, do have a look at the mural\/mosaic as it’s quite spectacular!<\/p>\n
