Sharing Assembly Part 1 and Derek’s Farewell

Thursday 24 March 2016 saw the first of our Sharing Assemblies. I’m sure you’re all aware that the Sharing Assemblies offer an opportunity to parents and carers as well as the classes in Riverbank to find out what the children have been learning and participating in over the previous term.

This was a Sharing Assembly in the true sense of sharing as it was also shared with the school acknowledging the retiral of our janitor, Derek Clark, who was on his third stint as the Riverbank ‘janny’. Derek had been the janitor at Donbank School, the site of Riverbank, before the amalgamation of Donbank and St Machar Schools. Derek received cards from each class and told us of his time as a janitor with Aberdeen City Council. Derek was presented with a gift from the Parent Council and I’m sure we all wish him a long and happy retirement.

Following the presentation to Derek, we moved on to the Sharing Assembly which was well-attended by parents and carers, as always. It was fascinating and educational to find out what the classes had been learning about over the term.
