Easter Bonnet Eggstravaganza…Ooops Extravaganza @ Riverbank Nursery
Just before the Easter Holidays, Mrs Sunley asked me if I could help her out by attending an Easter Day in the nursery as she had to attend a meeting. “Not a problem, ” I said. That was until I heard I was going to have to judge the Easter Bonnet competition . Anyway, I tripped down to the nursery to find not just all our lovely nursery children but lots of parents and carers, too. There was an open morning and parents were joining in with some crafty printing activities but then Mrs Fettes guided me over to the the Easter Bonnet display and I was ‘gobsmacked’. The array of fabulously designed bonnets were amazing. From Shaun the Sheep bonnets to Easter Bunny bonnets to bonnets with fresh flowers on them. How could I choose a winner? Mrs Fettes reminded me that there had to be winners but the Easter Bunny had left an egg for everybody who had taken part. Phew! That made me a little less stressed. I didn’t want to upset our little pupils and most importantly, everyone had participated with help from home and ALL of the bonnets were worthy of a prize.
It took me quite some time to deliberate on the final winners and then came the presentations. There was lots of clapping for the winners and for everyone who had participated.
After the judging, we sat down to an Easter snack ‘party’. The children had made biscuits for their snack and the whole morning was a fantastic celebration of pupil, parent and staff participation. Another Team Riverbank success.
Oh, and by the way, the stress was back on for me when Mrs Fettes informed me that I had to come back to do it all again in the afternoon. So, if Mrs Fettes says, the I do! I went back in the afternoon and because I had been telling everyone about how amazing the bonnets were, Miss Hampton decided she was going to come, too, just to see for herself. When she saw the afternoon bonnets she was, and I quote, “Blown away!” The afternoon bonnets were every bit as stunning as the morning ones. Miss Hampton seemed to disappear at this point and left me to do the judging again! Hey! No pressure!
The afternoon nursery pupils all received their prizes and egg from the Easter Bunny before enjoying their Easter Snack Party.
A big thank you from me to the nursery for letting me be part of your Easter celebrations. You were all simply the BEST!
