What a Day (for Change) @ Riverbank

By now, there’s not a person involved with Riverbank School who doesn’t know about all our visitors on Friday! Wow! It was some day! We had planned some smashing things for Day for Change but what happened couldn’t ever have been envisaged.

We were told that Dr Bill Maxwell, CEO of Education Scotland, would be visiting Riverbank on the afternoon of the 13th of May to find out about how Riverbank was progressing with the Scottish Attainment Challenge. He would be visiting with Andy Griffiths, head of schools for Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire. They were also keen to find out about our success in being accredited for the third time at Level 2 RRSA. No pressure there, then!

Just as we were ready to deal with this very important visit, we then received news that as we were the first school in the UK to be accredited three times at Level 2 RRSA, Aberdeen City Council’s media department would be visiting with TV cameras, radio and press as well as with Jenny Laing, Leader of Aberdeen City Council! Oh, my goodness!

Our visitors duly arrived and our trusty tour guides, once again, did the business in showing our guests around and explaining about everything that has been going on at Riverbank. There were lots of Super Heroes in the building as we were all dressed up, or in blue, for Day for Change. I think the media people were just loving this! Poor Mrs Ironside must have been on Take 123 on one of her interviews due to the break time bell ringing!

Anyway…all our visitors were impressed with what they came to see and our pupils were superb, too!

You may have seen some of Mrs Ironside’s interview on North Tonight on Friday night but if you missed it, I have a link (below) which will let you see the ACC interview and video.
