Sports Day

Tuesday saw Riverbank’s Annual Sports Day. This year saw the event being organised by Mrs Tinto, Riverbank’s PE teacher.

As is typical for Sports Day, the weather wasn’t at its best…..cold and windy! On the plus side, at least, it wasn’t raining and wet! Not to be deterred and finding it difficult to fit in a reserve day if we had cancelled, we decided to go ahead with the planned event. Team Riverbank battled through…pupils, parents, carers, relatives and staff! I believe the Academy cancelled their sports as it was too cold.

IMG_1408IMG_1409Although I was unable to attend the afternoon session of sports day due to a meeting, the morning session seemed to be a great success and there were many children who stopped me on my return to Riverbank, late in the afternoon, to show off their placing stickers and to tell how much they had enjoyed themselves. It just goes to show that if our pupils are engaged with what they are doing, they don’t mind the cold.

A big thank you to Mrs Tinto for all her hard work in arranging coaches and helpers and to Mrs Ironside’s daughter and her friend for helping with the scoring not to mention the staff, too, for making Sports Day
