First Wider Achievers of the New Term!
We are always so interested to hear about the achievements of our pupils, especially the achievements they make out of school. We do like to tap into the talents of our pupils. It’s also a good learning experience to share our skills with others. Two young gentlemen visited me, just before the holidays, to share their achievements. These are things to be so proud of.
The first, young chap was proud to show me his swimming certificates. He has been swimming for some time now and thoroughly enjoys his lessons. He told me that he loves all the activities the class participate in at the lessons. He had met some new people but that there wasn’t a lot of time for chatting as they worked so hard.
Swimming is such a good sport to be part of, it not only keeps you healthy but it could save your life too!
Well done young chap and keep working hard at your swimming and keep us up to date on your progress!
Our second young achiever has been learning to play the piano. He has been taking lessons for about a year, now, and has gained his Grade 1 Level in piano. He has extra pride in this achievement, in that he gained Grade 1 with merit! That means he did especially well in his piano exam.
His piano teacher, Alexandra Riddell, is kind and helpful and our young pianist is lucky enough to have a piano at home so that he can practise. He told me that he enjoyed playing a piece called The Arabesque because it is fast. He sets aside 30 minutes each day for practice and is, already, practising pieces for his Grade 2 exam.
Learning to play an instrument is not easy. You have to learn to read music and also, for piano, the fingering or where to place your fingers on the keyboard. It takes quite a while before a learner can manage to play a whole tune. This young man will, I am sure, show the dedication and perseverance that is necessary to make further achievements and progress with his piano playing.
Good luck with your Grade 2 work and maybe you can help out with piano playing at events in school. Congratulations, well done and keep up the good work!
