Riverbank’s Energy Saving Idea Prize Winner!

The Riverbank winning postcard.
All the winning entries on one poster.

Aberdeen City Council recently ran an Energy and Water Saving Postcard competition. The superhero leading the initiative is Alfie the Energy Saver! The purpose of the competition was to raise awareness about energy saving. The pupils were asked to design a postcard which delivered a short, sharp message on the theme of energy or water saving.

Mrs Ullah’s class entered the competition and focused on saving water. A wide range of postcards with a variety of ways of saving water were produced. Some help was given by a visitor from Aberdeen City Council who explained, to the class, about the importance of saving energy and water.

Riverbank’s water saving postcard winner complete with his prizes.

The postcard entries were all sent away and, actually, if truth be told, the class forgot about the competition until a whole pile of goodies turned up for a young gentleman in Primary 7U.  A poster was sent in with copies of the winning postcards. Our winning postcard had the slogan, “Short showers save water! Beat the clock! I’m thinking I need to take that postcard home to my house as there is at least one person who goes into our shower and forgets to come out!

Our winner received a framed certificate, an encyclopedia, a beautifully printed copy of all the winning posters and (yum) a box of Celebrations sweets. Well done our winner!
