Walking to School Initiative
In a bid to improve the health of our children and ease pollution, Riverbank was recently visited by WOW – the year long walk to school challenge.
Pupils are encouraged to walk to school or, if appropriate, cycle or scooter to school. This, rather than be taken to school by car. We do understand that not everyone can walk to school. The children heard all about the reasons they should walk to school. Our WOW person was also accompanied by the WOW mascot.
Using an app in school, the children log how they get to school and pin badges are issued for those walking to school on a frequent basis. The children thoroughly enjoyed this informative assembly.
