The morning nursery children experienced a rare opportunity of witnessing a partial solar eclipse on Friday morning. In the days leading up to the event they had learned about the moon passing in front of the sun.
One of the children said: ‘The moon is just going past and saying ‘Excuse me!’ to the sun!’
On Friday, using colanders as pinhole cameras, the children watched as the moon covered up 95% on the sun, making everything go darker for a while. Even with the cloudy skies, we were excited to see what was happening!
We even saw the birds get confused and think that night had come. What an amazing, once-in-a-lifetime experience!
