How Ace was Beauty & The Beast!!!

A great Outing for Riverbank!

Well, Thursday 4 December has been and gone and with it went the Riverbank trip to HMT to see this year’s pantomime extravaganza – Beauty & The Beast.Screen-Shot-2014-09-29-at-11_47_59

After all the arranging, we all set off for the theatre and the wait was well worth it. The panto was superb! The songs, the actors, dancers, slapstick humour and silly jokes all made for a great afternoon. The evil, Deadly Nightshade and the monstrous Kraken all added to the excitement. The mention of Tillydrone and Kittybrewster or even Kitty Brewster added that special local feeling and familiarity to the story.

The audience participation was so enthusiastic at a couple of points that Mrs Potty – Elaine C Smith – had to ask for shush so she could deliver her lines. Some children asked if it was a film they were watching and whether these were real people. Towards the end, when good had triumphed over evil, there was spontaneous cheering and clapping, and as the wedding was coming along for the finale, one teacher was asked when they would be going to the wedding. The children were totally immersed in the story and I thoroughly enjoyed how much they all enjoyed themselves.

I think I’ll book some tickets to go back and see it again without all the toilet runs!
