Do You Know What or Who the HSLO is? Find out here!

In school, we repeatedly come up against loads of abbreviations and I often have to stop and ask myself what does that stand for…..CfE…..Curriculum for Excellence……..SIP……School Improvement Plan…….NCCT……Non-Class Contact Time and that’s just for starters. A very important abbreviation for us at Riverbank is HSLO….Home School Liaison Officer. Our HSLO has accepted our offer of some space on the website to introduce herself and tell you a little about her job in being part of Team Riverbank. Over to you, Fiona…

Fiona Allan, Riverbank's Home School Liaison Officer.
Fiona Allan, Riverbank’s Home School Liaison Officer.

My name is Fiona Allan and I am the Home School Liaison Officer based at St Machar Academy.

For the purpose of those who have never met me or don’t know what my job entails then please allow me to explain.

The aim of my job is to assist the school to ensure that every child is attending  on time and on a regular basis  which in turn will enable the child to get the best possible education.  It is the parents/guardians responsibility to contact the school as early as possible if their child is unable to attend that day.  Failure to do this, or if the school are unable to successfully contact anyone, will result in a visit to the home by myself.  Should the reason be that the child is refusing to go to school for some reason I can be contacted via the School Office and can visit the home to try and assist and/or find solutions to the problem.

Remember I can be the liaison between home and school so please ask for help if required.

If you have a question or a problem and you think Fiona might be able to help you, then don’t hesitate to contact Riverbank and we can put you in touch with Fiona.
