Riverbank’s Litter Pickers

I am sad to report that Riverbank has had some problems with litter! The Pupil Council had mentioned that there was quite a bit of litter gathering in areas around the school. In fact, the RRSA Group and the Pupil Council had carried out a litter pick up day last session.

As the problem has worsened again, we are pleased to say that we have some volunteers who have said they would like to see a tidy playground and they have become Litter Pickers! Mrs Sunley was very pleased to have some volunteers but decided that things should be made a little easier for them and after a conversation with Steven Shaw, the Environmental Manager at Aberdeen City Council, she was put in touch with Lorna Graham who is a Performance Development Officer for Aberdeen City Council’s Communities, Housing and Infrastructure Department. These two people were able to supply our Litter Pickers with hi-viz vests and some proper litter picker uppers. We would like to send Steven and Lorna a big thank you for helping with this. Thank you for your donation!

All geared up and ready to go! But remember…you should be putting your litter in the bins provided!

Our Litter Pickers are now suitably equipped to carry out the job but they shouldn’t have to do too much as we should all be placing litter in the bins provided. We would ask all visitors to the school to place litter in the bins. Riverbank wants to be a litter free zone.
