The Latest News on Our Wishing Well Project!

By now, I’m sure you all know that Riverbank has been involved in raising funds for, what we, at Riverbank call, our Wishing Well Project. This project is to raise funds for a fresh water pump to be installed at Kamuli Primary School in Uganda.

Along with the Tilly Vision group, we would like to raise £5000 so that the well can be built. Each class was, individually or as part of a group, to run a mini-enterprise to raise money for the Wishing Well. These enterprises were to be spread through the months of November to February. There were lots of great ideas so just to remind us here is what everyone did.

The P1s had a Scottish Sing-a-long.

The P2s organised a very busy beetle drive.

At the Christmas Fayre, the P3s had a Bring & Buy Sale.

P4 drew and painted pictures of themselves and things to do with their topic and sold the finished ‘works of art’ at their very own art gallery and auction.

P4-5 & P5 made Christmas cards and decorations and sold them at the school Christmas Fayre and  P5 also had a Burns Day baking sale.

The three P6-7 classes ran a Disney Day where pupils and staff could, for a donation, dress as their favourite Disney character and participate in a Disney quiz.

On Friday 5 February Mr Weir came back to find out exactly what everyone had done and how they’d got on. Representatives from each enterprise group spoke at assembly and explained what they had done and how well they had got on. Mr Weir was amazed at all the different enterprises which had taken place.

The excitement level was raised when the P6-7s explained what their enterprise had entailed and then gave out the prizes from Disney Day. At the very end of the assembly, Mr Weir was further amazed when we were able to announce that Team Riverbank had raised £1000.

Well done to everyone for all their efforts to make such a fantastic sum of money. A special thank you to all parents, carers, relatives and everyone else who helped by participating and donating.
